India inks $248 million deal with Russia for T-72 tank engines

India signed a $248 million contract with Russia for procuring 1,000 HP engines to upgrade the T-72 tanks, enhancing their mobility and offensive capability. The deal includes technology transfer for licensed production at the Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi, supporting India's 'Make in India' initiative.
