Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest, preventing him from offering Friday prayers at Srinagar's Jamia mosque. Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid expressed disappointment over this move, stating it hurts religious sentiments. PDP member Iltija Mufti criticized the NC government for its stance. The Union Home Ministry recently declared AAC, led by Mirwaiz, an unlawful association.
