Milking it dry: Amul tastes success in making bioethanol from whey

Amul has successfully trialed bioethanol production from cheese whey, a byproduct of cheese and paneer manufacturing. This breakthrough allows the dairy giant to convert waste into fuel. With promising results from the trial, Amul plans to invest Rs 70 crore in a bioethanol plant with a 50,000-liter daily capacity, creating a new revenue stream for its farmers.
