NOTA can't be treated as candidate, Centre tells SC

The Centre has strongly opposed the Supreme Court's examination of whether 'NOTA' can be a rival candidate when only one candidate is contesting. The government argues that 'NOTA' is merely an option, not a candidate under the Representation of the People Act, 1951. They also clarified that the right to vote arises only when a poll involves multiple candidates.
