Vadodara is now home to 442 crocodiles: From roads to residential societies, crocodiles now a common sight in city, Vishwamitri river stretch records unprecedented growth

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 12 August 2025 ()
Vadodara residents are increasingly encountering crocodiles due to a significant population boom in the Vishwamitri River. A recent census revealed 442 crocodiles, a 60% increase since 2020. Experts attribute this rise to abundant food sources like fish, stray dogs, and ongoing waste dumping, coupled with minimal human interference.
