South Carolina high court will not reconsider abortion ban decision

The South Carolina Supreme Court has declined to reconsider a recent ruling upholding the state's ban on abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected. Opponents argue that this ban will prevent women from terminating pregnancies after about six weeks. Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers had requested the court to reconsider its ruling, stating that it did not define what constitutes a "fetal heartbeat" under the law
