Congressman Shri Thanedar was elected to the US House from Michigan’s 13th Congressional district in 2022. He is the only Indian American in the US House of Representatives who moved to the US as a student, when he was 24; and he remains proud of his Indian heritage. In an exclusive interview from his Congressional district in Michigan, Thanedar spoke to the Times of India on a range of topics from his advocacy for a strong US-India relationship to the need for immigration reforms in America and a new Congressional caucus on religious freedom for people of Indian origin that he has recently launched.
