Russian President Putin arrives in Kyrgyzstan on rare trip abroad

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a rare trip abroad, arriving in Kyrgyzstan for a meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He attended an event marking the 20th anniversary of a Russian airbase in Kyrgyzstan and is scheduled to participate in the Commonwealth of Independent States summit. Putin's travel outside of Russia and Russian-held territories of Ukraine is the first this year.
