US vetoes UN resolution on Israel-Hamas war

The United States has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a "humanitarian pause" in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The resolution, put forward by Brazil, received support from 12 out of 15 Council members, with Russia and the United Kingdom abstaining. The US ambassador stated that the resolution did not respect Israel's right to defend itself.
