EU president says Egypt needs support to handle fleeing Gazans

European Council President Charles Michel will visit Egypt on Saturday to call for support for the country, which borders the war-torn Gaza Strip. Michel will meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and attend a conference on current developments in the Middle East. The European Union has announced the opening of a humanitarian air corridor to the Gaza Strip. Michel also expressed strong support for President Biden's efforts and reiterated the EU's support for Israel's right to defend itself.
