Tuesday, 7 November 2023 On Tuesday, NATO officially declared the suspension of a significant security treaty dating back to the Cold War era in response to Russia's withdrawal from the agreement. The alliance has announced that its member states who were signatories to the treaty are now pausing their involvement in the pact. The Treaty of Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, which most of NATO's 31 allies have signed, was originally designed to prevent the amassing of military forces by Cold War adversaries near or on shared borders.
