Saturday, 11 November 2023 Former secretary general of Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Asad Umar, has resigned from the party's basic membership. Umar stated that he disagreed with the party's confrontational approach towards state institutions, which he believed was not in the country's best interest. His resignation comes ahead of the general elections on February 8. Umar joins a list of senior party leaders who have quit politics following the violent protests that occurred after Khan's arrest in an alleged corruption case.
