EU inks deal with African, Caribbean, Pacific states
Wednesday, 15 November 2023 The Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) and the European Union (EU) have signed a cooperation deal in Samoa. The agreement will serve as a legal framework for the next two decades, guiding relations between the EU and the 79 OACPS countries. The accord focuses on areas such as human rights, climate change, and migration. Negotiations began in 2018 but were delayed due to concerns over migration. The deal is set to enter into force in 2024.
