Kenya's parliament approves Haiti police deployment

IndiaTimes Thursday, 16 November 2023
Kenya's parliament has approved the deployment of its police to lead a UN-backed mission in Haiti to address the ongoing gang violence and restore peace and security. The UN Security Council had previously given the green light for Kenya to lead the mission. However, Kenya's involvement has faced criticism at home, and the government is currently facing legal challenges to its plans. Despite this, the government remains committed to providing up to 1,000 personnel for the mission. Haiti has been plagued by armed gangs, violence, and a struggling economy and healthcare system.
