Around 450,000 Afghan migrants return to nation from Iran amid illegal immigration

Around 450,000 Afghan migrants have voluntarily returned from Iran to Afghanistan, according to local media reports. An Iranian official estimates that there may be around four million illegal migrants in the country, with the majority residing in eight main towns. Approximately one million Afghan migrants in Iran have received identity cards, and efforts are underway to assist those without proper documentation. Afghan refugees in Iran have expressed concerns over increased deportations, arrests, and harassment by the police.
