Russia calls for UNSC meeting on US and UK strikes in Yemen

IndiaTimes Friday, 12 January 2024
Russia has requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council to address the recent strikes carried out by the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen. The meeting, scheduled for January 12, comes after the US, UK, and other countries launched strikes against targets used by Houthi rebels in Yemen. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak justified the strikes as necessary and proportionate actions in self-defense, while US President Joe Biden supported the targeted strikes to send a clear message against attacks on commercial vessels by Houthi rebels.
