China #MeToo activist Huang Xueqin sentenced to five years in jail

Chinese #MeToo activist Huang Xueqin was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday, according to a campaign group advocating for her release and the court's verdict. Labour activist Wang Jianbing, who was tried alongside Huang, received a three-and-a-half-year sentence. Huang, a 35-year-old independent journalist, intends to appeal the decision.
