Hundreds of flights and trains cancelled in Beijing as high winds and sandstorms hit China
Saturday, 12 April 2025 Severe winds lashed Beijing and northern China. Hundreds of flights got cancelled. Tourist sites closed down. Train services were also suspended. The China Meteorological Administration attributed the winds to a cold vortex system. Beijing issued an orange alert, its second-highest warning. Last year, storms caused floods in China. A highway collapse in southern China resulted in numerous deaths.
