European leaders are treading a delicate line between tepid support for the US strikes, with entreaties for a return to diplomacy. The Iranians don't seem eager to return to negotiations however.

Several dozen people gathered at the Place du Panthéon in Paris on Thursday against the conflict between Israel and Iran, prompted by a call from several Iranian human rights associations. Participants, mostly Franco-Iranian, called for an "immediate ceasefire" and for the protection of civilians. "It's terrifying, not only for the Iranians and the Israelis, it's terrifying for all the civilians in the region," says Darya Djavahery Farsi, a French-Iranian student attending the protest.
