India loses touch with moon lander

The Indian Space Research Organisation announced on Saturday that mission control had lost contact with the Chandrayaan-2 lander, minutes before it was scheduled to land on the south pole of the Moon.

It is not clear if the mission had failed.

The space agency was analysing data as it worked to determine what had happened.

It said the spacecraft's descent was normal until two kilometres (1.25 miles) from the lunar surface.
