PS5 Launch Will Reportedly Be Unaffected by COVID-19 Pandemic Sony previously told Dutch site ‘LetsGoDigital’ that the current coronavirus crisis “has not yet delayed the launch of the PlayStation 5 for the time being.” Now the company has issued a statement to 'Bloomberg,' saying the pandemic still won't impact the console's upcoming release.

It is still expected to be released in the holiday season of this year.

Sony also said in a statement on their website that they predict that there will be “no material impact on this business for the current fiscal year” caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, they added that the company will be “carefully monitoring the risk of delays in production schedules for game software titles."
