States to ease curbs, will it kickstart economy? Vikram Chandra explains

In line with PM Modi's announcements, India on Monday began a partial relaxation of lockdown norms imposed earlier in March to tackle the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Conditional relaxations in certain selected sectors outside coronavirus hotspot areas come into effect from today as the government attempts to kick start a battered economy.

While some states have given a nod to easing of lockdown measures from April 20, many states have decided not to lift curbs amid a surge in coronavirus cases.
