Herkimer Police, other first responders hold parade for a 10-year-old's birthday

It was a special night in the Village of Herkimer as first responders held a birthday parade for Owen Sanderson who turned 10-years-old.

Was held for a 10- year-old celebrating his birthday...but it wasnt just any parade.

The herkimer police department, movac ambulance, and the herkimer fire department took part.

It was all for owen sanderson.

You see...sanderson's mom jessica miller is currently stuck abroad in morocco, so his uncle and grandmother are staying with him at his home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jessica planned the whole thing, with help, from half a world away.

We spoke with owen's uncle who said the birthday parade was an amazing surprise.

"we were expecting a small group of friends and (just a couple of trucks and a car or something), we got the ok from the fire department and the police department and we didn't realize that it was going to be to this scale to this magnitude."

"i think it's really special to do that now we can't all get together, so why not show an appreciation and show him that we're still thinking of him on his special day."

Owen was overwhelmed by the response...happy birthday buddy!
