Hungry wild monkey leaps onto motorcycle to steal passenger's food

This is the hilarious moment a hungry monkey leaps onto a motorcycle to steal a passenger's food while they wait at a level crossing.

The rider had his wife on the back when they pulled up to the train tracks were cars were waiting in Lopburi, central Thailand, on May 29.

However, a cheeky wild monkey - suffering from a lack of tourists normally feeding them - saw an opportunity for a free meal.

Footage from another road user shows the primate scamper along the ground before jumping into the woman's lap.

As her partner tries to ride away, the monkey mugger grabs her bag of food, rummages through it, then laps up the juice and pieces of fruit in the bag.

The daylight robbery emerged in the same town where hundreds of monkeys that were starving because of the coronavirus had a huge fight in the street over a piece of food.

Onlooker, Suwa, said: ''The monkeys in my town have always been aggressive but recently they have become even more wild.

''They don't have as much food as before, when tourists would feed them every day and make them fat.

Now they are desperate for anything to eat.'' Lopburi, around 85 miles north of Bangkok, is known for its large population of wild monkeys that roam the streets.
