Trump Signs Executive Order Protecting Monuments From Being Destroyed

President Donald Trump said on Twitter he signed an executive order protecting monuments, memorials and statues.

According to CNN, Trump called people taking down several statues “lawless acts.” The Veterans’ Memorial Preservation Act already addresses people vandalizing federal property.

People who vandalize or destroy any monument, state or other property can get up to 10 years in prison.

Trump’s order simply directs law enforcement to enforce the act that was already in place.
