Bihar flood: Water enters Darbhanga’s police station; over 2.4 million affected

Floodwater enters the Kushewarsthan Police station in Bihar’s Darbhanga district.

The police officials confirmed that there is no electricity in the police station for the last four-five days.

Police officials also confirmed that they have been conducting patrols with a boat.

Bihar’s flood situation worsened as Patna Meteorological Centre said more rain is likely to hit the district till August 1.

Darbhanga is the worst-affected area by floods in Bihar.

Incessant rain and rising water level in rivers have affected 11 out of 38 districts in Bihar.

Over 2.4 million people have been affected in Bihar due to floods.

Flood water has spread to new areas in 11 districts.

The flood-affected districts are Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Supaul, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, West Champaran, East Champaran, Khagaria and Saran.

Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the affected districts.

Around 17 teams of NDRF and eight teams of SDRF have been deployed in the affected districts.

Operations to drop relief material through the air have been organized by Indian Air Force.

Food packets have been air-dropped in the affected areas.
