Beshear Comments on CDC's Attempt to Clarify New Testing Guidelines

CDC's director has attempted to clarify the agency's recently-updated COVID-19 testing guidelines, and Kentucky's governor is sharing more thoughts on the subject.

Kentucky governor andy beshear - breaking with the centers for disease and control and prevention - as the agency changes course on covid-19 testing.... the governor calling the new guidance from the c-d-c - reckless.... as erran huber reports - governor beshear is now urging kentucky residents to*ignore the latest recommendatio ns.... governor beshear again bashing the federal response to the covid-19 pandemic.

Issuing some strong words in the wake of new cdc testing protocols from this week.

Just a day after calling the changes "reckless" beshear doubled down with another swipe-- taking issue with this direction from the centers for disease control--still listed on their website.

"if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet) of a person with a covid-19 infection for at least 15 minutes but do not have symptoms: you do not necessarily need a test" beshear did not hold back when it came to how he felt about those new guidelines.

That change in cdc guidance that they're pulling back was simply wrong.

It's plain wrong, with everything that we know about this virus.

I don't know the motivations behind that change in guidance from the cdc, but it is not helpful.

It is not in line with everything known about the virus.

Dr. stephen stack,kentucky public health commissioner, also notes the cdc guidelines say-- people living in areas of higher active spread should follow state recommendation s over the federal government guidelines.
