The state health department said it's not seeing an up-tick in coronavirus cases more than two weeks after the Labor Day weekend, but added this is not a time to relax safety precautions.

2-weeks.

New information... the state health department said it's not seeing a huge up-tick in coronavirus cases - more than two weeks after the labor day weekend.

But added - this is not a time to relax masking ordinances or other safety precautions.

Waay31's breken terry spoke with the state about whats led to the coronavirus numbers flattening.

Breken what did you learn?

Dr. karen landers with the state health department said we saw huge boosts in cases after the 4th of july, but labor day was the first big holiday with the masking ordinance in place.

She said that could be a factor in why we aren't seeing a huge spike in cases.

Landers said overall the coronavirus curve in the state is starting to flatten but she's cautious when saying that because things can change.

Depsite not seeing a huge spike in cases look at this graph here.

On tuesday there were 805 people in the hospital across the state with coronavirus.

Today there were a total of 768 people in the hospital.

I asked landers why we're still seeing many people hospitalized with the virus.

Again we have to be aware that covid can be severe in any person but a person with underlying conditions do have a higher rate of hospitalization.

Landers said to really be successful against the virus everyone must wear masks, social distance, and practice good hygeine.
