Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on January 20 appealed to beneficiaries to get themselves vaccinated by COVID-19 vaccines, amid apprehensions of their efficacy. "There is a need to spread awareness about the vaccine...Both the COVID-19 vaccines were given emergency use approval only after scientists were convinced of their safety. I appeal to all beneficiaries to get themselves vaccinated," said LG Manoj Sinha. COVID-19 vaccination drive was roll out on January 16 across the country.

Jammu and Kashmir's Ganouri-Tanta village saw the light of an electric bulb for the first time on January 18, ending the decades of darkness from the lives of the villagers. Village is located in the far-flung area of Doda district. The electrification work of the village was taken up on the order of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, after a group of locals put forward the demand before him at the last "LG Mulaqaat" programme. LG asked the Doda district administration to ensure the electrification of the village within a month. To celebrate the historical moment with the villagers, District Development Council Dr Sagar D Doifode visited the village and formally declared it as electrified by lighting up a bulb amid huge rounds of applause by elated locals. DDC ensured that the progress of electrification work was monitored on a daily basis, while providing every logistic support to the JPDCL team associated with the task.

Activists of Dogra Front on January 20 staged protest against the web series 'Tandav' in Jammu and Kashmir's Dogra. 'Tandav', an Amazon Prime Video-based series addressed the backlash against its content that has hurt religious sentiments of many viewers. Muslim people also showed their anguish against the web series by showing placards. The protestors alleged that the creators of the web series have tried to disrupt the communal harmony in the country. Earlier in the day, Maharashtra Government has received a complaint regarding 'Tandav' and will be taking appropriate action against the web series. Earlier on Monday, the cast and crew of the Saif Ali Khan starrer political-drama had extended their apologies to the viewers for "unintentionally" hurting their sentiments. An FIR was also registered at Lucknow's Hazratganj Kotwali against Amazon Prime's India and team of 'tandav' for allegedly hurting religious sentiments on Monday.

Two terrorists were killed on Sunday during a gunfight with security forces in the higher reaches of Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into this side from across the Line of Control (LoC) about three days ago and were heading for south Kashmir's Shopian district when they were intercepted in a snow-bound area along the Mughal Road in the afternoon, the officials said.
