A political war of words broke out over the alleged rape and murder of the 6-year-old child of a migrant labourer in Punjab. The Bharatiya Janata Party cited the reaction of Congress leaders to a similar crime in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. While Nirmala Sitharaman said that rapes shouldn't be politicised, her colleague in the Union Cabinet, Prakash Javadekar questioned why Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi hadn't visited the victim's family in Punjab, like Hathras. The government on Wednesday decided to give Rs 3,737 crore bonus to 30.67 lakh central government employees to encourage spending during the festival season and add to demand in the economy. The decision to give a productivity-linked bonus and non-productivity-linked bonus for 2019-2020 was taken at the Union Cabinet meeting, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar said. The bonus ahead of Vijayadashami and Diwali will encourage the middle-class to go out and spend and thus add to the demand in the economy, he said. The bonus will be disbursed in a week's time. Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained by police on October 26 after he reached Siddipet where searches were conducted at locations related to BJP's Dubbaka by-poll candidate Raghunandan Rao, and seized Rs 18.67 lakh. BJP workers alleged that police brought money in a bag to plant it at the location. Dubbaka by-poll is scheduled on November 03.

A team of the Crime Branch, Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) has reached Karauli's Bukna village to carry out an investigation in the death case of a priest in Karauli. Priest was allegedly burnt alive by several men during a scuffle over land dispute.
BJP MP KL Meena on October 10 ended his protest which he held with hundreds of people in Rajasthan's Karauli over the killing of a temple priest. He informed that he stands with the family of the victim and announced that he will personally give Rs 1 lakh to them. He said, "The government has assured that Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia amount and Rs 1.5 lakh under Prime Minister Awas Yojana will be given to the Priest's family. A job will also be given to a member of his family." Meena said that the Station Head Officer and the Patwari have been suspended. A priest was allegedly burnt alive by land encroachers in Karauli's Bukna village on October 08 during a scuffle over encroachment of temple land at Bukna village in Sapotra, Karauli district.
A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man and his accomplice made a video of the act. The incident took place in Rajasthan's Barmer on October 06. Girl is undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Police have registered case under POCSO and further investigation is underway. Speaking to media, Barmer DM Vishram Meena said, "A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man and his accomplice made a video of the act. The girl is admitted to a local hospital for medical treatment. A case has been registered, further investigation is underway."
