Updating on Budgam encounter, Kashmir IGP, Vijay Kumar informed that both the terrorists killed in the encounter were affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit.

Wreath laying ceremony of JandK Police Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Altaf, who lost his life in Budgam encounter on February 19, was held in Srinagar today. SPO Mohammad Altaf lost his life while SgCt Manzoor Ahmad got injured in the ongoing operation. The encounter was started at Beerwah area of Budgam.

JandK government has organised a mesmerising night skiing event in Gulmarg district. Gulmarg is world famous ski and tourist resort in north Kashmir of JandK. It will see around 1200 athletes from different parts of the country participating in the second edition of the five-day long 'Khelo India Winter Games'. This event is advance exercise of 'Khelo India Winter Games' programme that will be started officially on February 26. It will attract skiing lovers from across the world. The event is conducted to promote adventure tourism and aimed at engaging the youth in positive and constructive activities. The games include snowshoe race, ice skating, ice hockey, skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering and ice stock. The government has planned many cultural programs as part of the event besides setting up stalls of ethnic food and local crafts. 'Khelo India Winter Games' is being organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs And Sports in collaboration with the JandK Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of JandK. While speaking to media, MoS of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, Kiren Rijiju said, "We want to support our young generation for excellence in sports. We couldn't provide facilities in the past. We are bringing Khelo India here as the place is naturally gifted to organise winter games."

A blood donation camp was organized by Insaniyat Welfare Society in Lucknow's Aishbagh on February 14. A young entrepreneur hailing from Wahibugh Village of Pulwama district has turned adversity of his life into an opportunity thorough this programme. Mohd Asgar Bhat has started a shoe making unit. He got a loan from District Industries Centres (DICs) under PMEGP and started his business unit at an Industrial estate in Pulwama. Speaking to ANI, Bhat said, "Through Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) they have supported me by giving a loan of Rs 25 lakh. I started a unit of chappal (footwear) making here and now it's been 5-6 months that I have started this business." "Now, I am creating market and hopefully things are going well. I am supplying footwear in entire Jammu and Kashmir as well as in Ladakh," Bhat added. An employee of Bhat's unit, Ejaz Ahmad told ANI, "Here, we are manufacturing ladies and gents chappals (footwear). My friend has started this unit and I am working with him over here. It is a good work in Lassipora Industrial Estate." "If anyone wants to do this work then it is my suggestion that they can easily do this as it has profit too," he added. Speaking to ANI, the manager of District Industries Centres, GM Bhat said, "We are providing loans to youth under a centrally sponsored scheme Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to start their own factories. Under manufacturing sector they can get a loan up to Rs 25 lakh and in servicing sector loan can be provided up to Rs 10 lakh." "Government is providing them subsidy of 35 % under this scheme. So far several youth have taken loan from our three agencies. This year 742 people have taken loan from us under PMEGP," he added.
A 20-year-old youth from the Awantipora town of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district has obtained the license of a commercial pilot. Farhan Majeed is the youngest Kashmiri to have achieved this feat. Farhan Majeed after passing his 12th standard from Mantaqui Higher Secondary School in Awantipora joined the flying academy Global Konnect Aviation Services Private Ltd in Uttarakhand to get trained as a commercial pilot. Speaking to ANI, Farhan Majeed said, "All the credit goes to my parents and family members and with the help and blessings of God I received a commercial pilot license. I received my license as a commercial pilot during last year in November, 2020." "There is an airbase of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Malangpora and we can hear the sounds of helicopters and other planes all day and night. This motivated me to become a pilot," he added. Abdul Majeed, father of Farhan is very proud of his son. Talking to ANI, Abdul said, "My son Farhan Majeed has become a commercial pilot. He has got license of commercial pilot and I am proud of him. I am the happiest person in the world." "Difficulties will come but I faced those difficulties boldly," he added.
