'No guarantee...': On China, Rajnath Singh says forces given free hand #HTLS2020
Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister of India, commented on the border tension with China, at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.
While issuing an assurance that the Narendra Modi administration would not allow any violation of India's territorial integrity, Singh said that talks with China on multiple levels were underway, but there was no guarantee about the outcome.
He hailed the bravery of Indian soldiers at the Line of Actual Control, and said that security forces had been given a free hand to drive the Chinese army back in case of aggression.
President Ram Nath Kovind on January 26 hosted 'At Home' reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Republic Day. Defence Minister launched the trailer of the film on the eve of Republic Day in an event which was attended by the cast of the film, Sharman Joshi and Bidita Bag, and director Aaryaan Saxena. The trailer of the film showed how a little girl, who loses her father in the war deals with post-traumatic stress disorder. From the trailer, it is apparent that the movie is highlighting the plight of a soldier's family and the sacrifices they have to make for the nation. The film will be released on February 25, 2021.
Tripura's Arshiya Das, a ten-year-old girl chess genius, was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar on January 25. Arshiya attended the PM's video conference along with her parents from the conference hall of the office of District Magistrate west Tripura district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually interacted with 32 winners from across the country via video conference. Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, District Magistrate of west Tripura district felicitated Arshiya and expressed that it is a great honour for the state of Tripura. Arshiya is the first player from the northeast states to win a gold medal at the Asian School Chess Tournament 2019.
