Jack Monroe calls out 'injustice' of free school meals failure

Food writer Jack Monroe has said the ongoing campaign around free school mealshighlights a "chasm of injustice", after pictures shared on social mediashowed inadequacies of the food parcels being given to families.

Ms Monroehighlighted the need for year-round food vouchers as it was announced thatschools will not provide free school meals over February half-term, and thatcouncils should instead provide meals through the Covid Winter Grant Scheme.It comes as Footballer Marcus Rashford has stepped up pressure on BorisJohnson with a call for an urgent review of the Government’s policy in thewake of the coronavirus pandemic.
