Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested an arms supplier Salim who was supplying various types of arms to the criminals in Delhi and NCR. The arms recovered from him were meant to be supplied to criminals during the upcoming elections in UP. In view of increasing use of semi-automatic weapons by hardcore criminals while committing crime, STF, Crime Branch was tasked to locate and apprehend persons involved in supplying of arms and ammunition to the criminals. On receiving a tip-off the team laid a trap at Khajuri Pushta road near Power House, Delhi and successfully apprehended the supplier Salim when he arrived there on a motorcycle to deliver arms and ammunition to someone. Total 4 pistols and 39 live cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain appealed to people to step out of their homes only if necessary. Jain also requested the Centre to scale up Covid beds in Delhi’s hospitals. “Delhi and the whole country are witnessing new Covid-19 levels. I would appeal to the citizens to step out of their house only if necessary and wear a mask when stepping out," he said. “We added 5,000 more beds last week and will add more. At present, there are 5,525 beds in Delhi. 190 beds are occupied which amounts to 2 per cent of the total beds. We have requested the Centre to provide more beds,” said Jain. In wake of the rising COVID cases in the national capital, Delhi government is planning to increase the quantity of beds for COVID patients. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that only 2% beds are occupied. Satyendar Jain said, "We added 5,000 more beds last week and will add more. At present, there are 5,525 beds in Delhi. 190 beds are occupied which amounts to 2%. We have also requested central govt to increase beds to their current tally of 1,090." Delhi reported 10,774 new cases and 48 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total caseload of the national capital stood at 7,25,197.
