Military exercise Shantir Ogrosena ends; Indian Army chief attends closing ceremony

Shantir Ogrosena, multinational military exercise, concluded in Bangladesh on April 12.The armed forces of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka participated in the exercise. Observers from the US, UK, Turkey and Saudi Arabia also participated. The multilateral UN-mandated counterterrorism exercise was held from April 4-12. The Indian Army contingent that participated comprised of 30 personnel. Indian Army chief Gen M M Naravane attended the closing ceremony of the exercise. The Army chief also interacted with the members of the Indian Army contingent. Watch the full video for more.

Multinational military exercise 'Shantir Ogrosena 2021' concludes in Bangladesh

A 10-day multinational military exercise named 'Shantir Ogrosena' in which troops of four countries including India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka participated, culminated on April 12 in Bangladesh. The exercise also included observers from the US, UK, Turkey and Saudi Arabia and others. The exercise from April 4-12, was organised to pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his birth centenary and celebrate the golden jubilee of the liberation of Bangladesh. The aim of the exercise was to strengthen defence ties and enhance interoperability amongst neighbourhood countries to ensure effective peacekeeping operations, the Indian Army said on April 12.

Millions across the globe will honour the religious tradition between April 12 and May 11, by abstaining from food and drink during daylight hours. COVID-19: Weekly positivity in Chhattisgarh has increased from 27.9% to almost 28%, informs Health Ministry

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan showed concerns over increasing cases in Chhattisgarh. The weekly positivity is increasing from one and a half percent. "It has increased to 27.9% almost 28%," he said.

Remdesivir for those who are hospitalized, not to be procured from chemist shops: Niti Aayog

During press conference held in Delhi, Niti Aayog's Dr VK Paul spoke on Remdesivir, which is an anti-viral drug for COVID-19. "There is no question of use of Remdesivir in home setting. This is required for those individuals who require hospitalisation and are on oxygen. It should only be use in hospital and not to be procured from chemist shops. We appeal that there should be rational use of Remdesivir. The drug is available in sufficient numbers. We appeal to the physicians' community for rational, judicious, and correct use of the drug," said Dr VK Paul.

We've to beat COVID with collective resolution: RS Prasad

As India battles a second COVID wave, Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad called the 2nd wave a 'global phenomenon'. "The second wave of COVID19 is a global phenomenon. What is important is how the government is responding. Till today, around 11 crore doses of vaccine have been administered. It is a satisfactory speed," he said.
