While speaking to ANI in the national capital on March 04, the Minister of State (MoS) for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (I/C), Mansukh Mandaviya informed that 424 Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during Maritime India Summit- 2021.
Mandaviya said, "424 MoUs were signed during Maritime India Summit- 2021 and investments of more than Rs 3 lakh crores were committed."
With many states claiming a shortage of remdesivir, an antiviral drug used in Covid-19 treatment in certain cases, the Union government revealed a plan to double its production in the coming days. Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that within 15 days, production of the drug would be doubled from 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh vials. Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis accused Maharastra Police of harassing a Daman-based Remdesivir supplier for agreeing to supply a stock of the drug to the state on the request of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. “We had requested Bruck Pharma to supply a stock of Remdesivir vials to Maharashtra. They said they couldn't until permissions were given. I spoke with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and got Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s permission. Tonight around 9 pm, the police arrested him," said Fadnavis. He added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Manjunath Singe told they had inputs that some exporters had 60,000 vials and they only wanted to verify the same. In view of increased demand of Remdesivir, anti-viral drug for COVID-19, Government of India has decided to increase production, supply and reduce prices of the drug, said Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. "GoI has decided to increase production, supply and reduce prices of Remdesivir drug. This will ramp up production capacity for manufacturing to around 80 lakh vials/month. The manufacturers of Remdesivir to reduce price to less than Rs 3500 by end of this week," said Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya. Remdesivir is considered as a key anti-viral drug in the fight against COVID-19, especially in adult patients with severe complications.
Minister of State (MoS) for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya said that the price of fertilizers will not increase. "Government of India had a high-level meeting with fertilizer companies. In the meeting, it is decided that the price of fertilizers will not be increase. The farmers will get the fertilizers in the same rate," he said.
Amid oxygen crisis across the country, Assam has signed MoUs with three manufactures of liquid oxygen in the state. While speaking to ANI, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 27 said, "We have signed MoUs with three manufactures of liquid oxygen. These three plants will give us 10.5 MT oxygen per day. With this, our total capacity has gone up to 66 MT."
