Meat shops won't function on Tuesdays in Gurugram: Mayor

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram introduced new guidelines for meat shops including directing them to be closed on Tuesdays and penalty for illegally run shops have been increased by 10 times on March 19.

"All meat shops in Gurugram will be closed on Tuesdays and it was demanded by the locals.

We have chosen Tuesday because almost 99% people don't consume meat on this day.

The licence fee for meat shops has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.

The penalty for illegally run shops has also been increased 10 times from Rs 500 to Rs 5,000," said Gurugram Mayor Madhu Azad.
