COVID-19: India records highest ever spike of 2.17 lakh cases

COVID-19 situation continues to deteriorate across the country as there is no holding back to surge in cases.

A day after daily cases breached 2-lakh mark, in April 15 India reported 2,17,353 new cases.

Country's COVID caseload is at 1,42,91,917 with 15,69,743 active cases.

1,18,302 people were discharged in last 24 hours taking total recoveries to 1,25,47,866.

With 1,185 new deaths, death toll has mounted to 1,74,308.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 26,34,76,625 samples tested for COVID-19.

The COVID vaccination drive is underway across country.

So far 11,72,23,509 COVID vaccine jabs have been inoculated.

COVID cases dip as India registers 3,66,161 new infections

India witnessed a dip in COVID-19 cases after the country reported 3,66,161 new infections in last 24 hours. With 7,45,237 active cases, COVID caseload of the country stood at 2,26,62,575. 3,754 new deaths in last 24 hours took the toll to 2,46,116. So far, 1,86,71,222 people won the battle against COVID-19. According to Indian Council of Medical Research, till date 30,37,50,077 samples have been tested for COVID-19 virus. Vaccination drive is underway and 17,01,76,603 vaccine doses have been inoculated.

India logs highest single day COVID-19 deaths

India reported highest single-day death on May 08 ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began. With 4,187 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll reached 2,38,270. The country reported 4,01,078 new COVID-19 infections on May 07 taking the total COVID caseload to 2,18,92,676. Currently there are 37,23,446 active cases in the country. In last 24 hours, 3,18,609 people have won the battle against the virus. Vaccination drive is underway across country and so far 16,73,46,544 vaccine doses have been inoculated. According to Indian Council of Medical Research 30,04,10,043 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till May 07.
