Amid crippling COVID-19 situation in national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 09 announced that metro rail services will remain suspended till 5 am on May 17. Delhi entered into an extended period of lockdown with strict restrictions to further curb the COVID surge. Positivity rate of Delhi dipped to 23% from 35% amid lockdown restrictions.
Hitting out at the Arvind Kejriwal government amid COVID crisis, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said when BJP and RSS are helping people during oxygen shortage, Delhi government and MLAs are involved in black-marketing. "At a time when people of Delhi are gasping for oxygen, BJP, RSS and other organisations are helping people, Delhi Governments ministers and MLAs are involved in black-marketing and hoarding of medicines and oxygen. Delhi Govt and AAP are responsible for this crisis," said Delhi's BJP president.
Delhi's iconic Jama Masjid was deserted on Eid-Ul-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast after the holy month of Ramzan. In the pre-corona times, at least 15,000-18,000 people gathered to offer the namaz at Jama Masjid, one of the country’s largest mosques.

Agra ADG Rajeev Krishna ensured strict action and directed investigation in the matter where a man was allegedly seen pleading in front of some police officials to not transfer the oxygen cylinders to other hospital in a viral video."A video got viral on social media in which a man was allegedly seen pleading in front of some police officials to not transfer the oxygen cylinders to other hospital. I have directed SP of Agra to start investigation in the matter. This is a very serious matter. Police's duty is to help them and we are helping everyone as much as possible. We'll investigate and will take action against those who are accused in the matter. I also want to add that Agra Police is working really hard during COVID-19 pandemic," said Agra ADG Rajeev Krishna.
With the help of Indian Air Force and Indian Army, an oxygen producing plant in Uttar Pradesh's Agra has been restarted. DM Prabhu N Singh informed that once operations here get underway, 1100-1200 oxygen cylinders can be filled up. "We are expected to get oxygen tankers from Ranchi, Lucknow soon", said Singh.
Video of a man pleading with the police on the road has gone viral. The incident from UP's Agra has once again highlighted India's Covid crisis. Video shows a man in a PPE suit dropping to his knees & pleading with the cops with his hands folded. As per reports, the man was begging police not to take away the oxygen cylinder he had arranged for his ailing mother. Police have, however, claimed that the man was only requesting an oxygen cylinder. The video was also shared by Youth Congress on their official Twitter handle. India reported over 3.7 lakh fresh Covid cases & 3,645 deaths in the last 24 hours. Uttar Pradesh on Thursday recorded more than 35,150 fresh cases & 298 Covid deaths.
