The Gila County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders Friday for the towns of Strawberry and Pine as the Backbone Fire spreads. As of Saturday morning, it grew to 17,126 acres.
A wildfire burning in the Los Padres National Forest near Big Sur in Monterey County on Friday burned at least 1,500 acres in less than 24 hours, prompting evacuations. (6-18-21)
