Instead of a mandate, the city will now be "strongly recommending" citizens wear masks in indoor public spaces.

Though coronavirus cases have remained relatively stagnant recently, half of the country is experiencing upward trends.

Given the latest data, the Board of Health voted tonight to rescind the mandate.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the city of Philadelphia's COVID-19 community level is low.

As community levels stay low, the CDC encourages citizens to stay current on vaccinations and test themselves if they display the symptoms of a coronavirus infection
