Sensex increases by 443 points, and Nifty ends the day over the 15,550 level mark | Oneindia News
With conflicting global trends, the equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty recovered on Thursday to settle over 1% higher thanks to advances in the banking, IT, and auto sectors.
To reach 52,265.72, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 443.19 points, or 0.86 percent.
It increased by 694.26 points, or 1.33 percent, over the day to reach 52,516.79.
To reach 15,566.55, the NSE Nifty increased by 143.35 points or 0.93 percent.
As the trading session commenced on April 19th, both the Sensex and the Nifty continued their downward trend for the fifth consecutive day, fueled by reports of Israel's recent missile launch on Iran. This event triggered a surge in oil and gold prices, heightening concerns about the global economy. Concurrently, the commencement of Lok Sabha elections added to the domestic landscape. The Indian rupee also opened at a historic low of 83.55 per Dollar.
