NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th president of the country and has defeated the opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha with a comprehensive margin of votes, more than double the count received by Sinha.
Draupadi Murmu, with this victory, has become the first tribal president of the country.
India considers "One Nation, One Election," where all major elections happen simultaneously. A committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind submitted a detailed report on the idea to President Droupadi Murmu. They propose the first synchronised elections in 2029, aiming to simplify the process and boost voter confidence.
