California health official says monkeypox state of emergency is still being considered

A top California health official said Friday that the state is using infrastructure from the COVID-19 pandemic to respond to rising monkeypox cases and expects an additional 72,000 doses of vaccine from the federal government soon.

He said that officials are considering whether to declare a state of emergency related to monkeypox, as some lawmakers have called for the state to do.
