Defense chiefs fail to resolve dispute on whether to send German tanks to Ukraine
Defense leaders meeting at a US air base in on Germany on Friday failed to resolve divisions over providing advanced battle tanks to Ukraine after more than five hours of discussions about sending more military aid to the embattled country in its war with Russia.
Trump has stunned observers by privately telling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he wants to help Ukraine, despite recently pushing for the U.S. to freeze critical weapons deliveries. The contradictory moves have fueled speculation that Trump is leveraging military aid to gain influence over both Kyiv and Moscow ahead of the U.S. election.
