Attacker in Jerusalem shooting was 13-year-old Palestinian: police

Israeli security forces gather at a cordoned-off area in Jerusalem's predominantly Arab neighbourhood of Silwan, where a Palestinian boy shot and wounded two people.

The attack comes just hours after another gunman killed seven outside a synagogue on International Holocaust Remembrance Day in one of the deadliest such attacks in years.

Tensions are rising across the region after one of the deadliest army raids in the occupied West Bank in roughly two decades, as well as rocket fire from militants in the Gaza Strip and Israeli retaliatory air strikes.
