Rishi Sunak has defended backlash from the latest NHS figures which show waiting lists have risen by 330,000 since he promised to cut them, insisting that the government's plan is working. "Whilst we haven't made as much progress as I would have liked, today's figures show we are making headway towards that goal. Over the last five months, there has been a reduction of around 200,000 in the overall waiting list which is positive and if it wasn't for industrial action, an extra 430,000 patients would have been treated," he added. In their first interview, the parents of a sixteen-year-old boy who took his own life just hours after he was blackmailed by a scammer have told ITV News their "whole world has been shattered". Murray Dowey, 16, from Dunblane was contacted on social media by someone claiming to be a young girl but was actually a scammer, who tricked him into sending an intimate image and then blackmailed him with it. Sextortion, is when intimate images and/or videos are recorded and used for financial exploitation and coercion. It is mostly committed by organised criminal gangs overseas. Report by Covellm. A secret audio recording obtained by ITV News has revealed Post Office boss Paula Vennells was told directly about problems with the Horizon system and warned not to cover them up. In a meeting with independent investigators from Second Sight on July 2, 2013, Ms Vennells was made aware of allegations that sub-postmaster branch accounts could be accessed remotely. This is something the Post Office had denied for years. She was also told by investigators that the companyās position in denying Horizon faults was both ādangerousā and "stupid", according to the recording. Report by Czubalam. The deaths of the Reading terror attack victims were "probably avoidable" and contributed to by the failings of multiple agencies, an inquest has found.
Friends James Furlong, 36, Joseph Ritchie-Bennett, 39, and David Wails, 49, were stabbed to death by Khairi Saadallah, now 29, in Forbury Gardens on 20 June 2020.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers said the King's return to duties is a sign he is "on the way to recovery." Buckingham Palace confirmed today that His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis. Former Post Office boss Angela van den Bogerd has left the Post Office inquiry after her second day of giving evidence. Ms van den Bogerd, who held numerous positions at the Post Office during her 35-year career, opened her evidence yesterday by saying she is "truly sorry" for the "devastation" caused to wrongly convicted sub-postmasters.

Scotlandās first minister Humza Yousaf is battling for his political survival after a chaotic 24 hours which saw him end the SNPās governing partnership with the Greens on Thursday. This was followed a couple of hours later by the Scottish Conservatives putting forward a motion of no confidence in the first minister.
