The eventual announcement was made at 10:55 PM IST implying that the final showdown for the prestigious IPL trophy between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday. The Halifax Regional Municipality in eastern Canada has declared a local state of emergency in the communities affected by a massive wildfire that has caused thousands of evacuations, school closures and power outages just outside Halifax. The evacuation orders apply to an area that appears to stretch over 75 square kilometers, most of which is about a 30-minute drive northwest of downtown Halifax. In a news release, the municipality said that the state of emergency would last seven days, "unless otherwise lifted or extended." The municipality also said that declaring a state of emergency under the Emergency Management Act, gives the municipality "a higher level of intergovernmental coordination, access to emergency discretionary funds, the ability to mobilize additional supports, organizations and businesses to support evacuated residents."

Japan’s military has said that it will destroy any North Korean missile that violates its territory and is making preparations to do so after Kim Jong-un’s regime told Tokyo that it plans to launch a satellite between 31 May and 11 June. It has also put its missile defense on high alert. This stern warning has come after a notice from North Korean waterway authorities informed Japan's coast guard that the rocket could affect the waters in the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and east of the Philippines' Luzon Island. Experts believe that the launch of the military satellite is North Korea's attempt to boost its surveillance and attack its enemy with more precision if conflict breaks out. Earlier this month, North Korea had said that it has completed work on its first spy satellite, and it is now ready for launch. Japan’s defense ministry said in a statement: "We will take destructive measures against ballistic and other missiles that are confirmed to land in our territory." The ministry said it would use its Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) or Patriot Missile to destroy any such North Korean rocket or missile. Japan has urged North Korea to refrain from the launch.

Russia unleashed waves of air strikes on Kyiv overnight in what officials said was the largest drone attack of the city. Ukrainian military said that it downed 58 of the 59 drones launched, described by the air force as a record assault with the Iranian-made "kamikaze" drones. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said all 36 drones targeting Kyiv had been destroyed. Kyiv has been targeted several times this month but despite this, fatalities are rare. Ukraine's Air Force said that Russia had targeted military and critical infrastructure facilities in central Ukraine on Sunday, and the Kyiv region in particular - as has been increasingly the case with a Ukrainian counteroffensive looming. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the country’s air defense forces for protecting the country and asked its parliament to impose sanctions against Iran for supplying Russia with weapons, including the Shahed drones.
