Biden Administration Sued Over New Immigration Policy
Biden Administration Sued Over , New Immigration Policy.
'Newsweek' reports that advocates
for immigrants' rights have sued the
Biden administration over its new asylum ban.
'Newsweek' reports that advocates
for immigrants' rights have sued the
Biden administration over its new asylum ban.
The news comes after the controversial lifting of Title 42
public health measures, which had been reinstated at
the height of the pandemic to stem the flow of immigration.
Title 42 allowed authorities to
quickly expel migrants at U.S. borders
to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
CNN reports that Title 42 was used to
expel approximately 2.5 million migrants
between March 2020 and November 2022.
With the policy coming to an end, a surge
of migrants have arrived at the border with
the hope of claiming asylum in the U.S. .
Title 42 has been replaced by Title 8,
which carries more severe consequences for
migrants deemed unqualified for entry into the U.S.
Now, migrants turned away at the border will not
only be deported, but will also be banned from
reentering the country for the next five years.
Immigrants' rights advocates claim the new measures are reminiscent of Trump-era policies which were blocked by courts, 'Newsweek' reports.

Our asylum system was designed to
protect people fleeing imminent threats
to their lives, who do not have the luxury
of waiting for an elusive appointment
or for an application to be adjudicated
in a country where they are in danger.

The Biden administration has had over
two years to set up a fair and humane
asylum process post-Title 42.
That it has
instead chosen to resurrect and repackage
illegal Trump-era policies is reprehensible, Melissa Crow, director of litigation at the Center

The Pentagon has confirmed it is conducting a ācapability reviewā to reassess whether military aid to Ukraine aligns with Americaās shifting defense priorities. Chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said the U.S. is taking a hard look at promised weapons deliveries ā some of which are now halted ā to ensure national interests come first. The move follows the White Houseās decision to stop key shipments of air defense ammunition, artillery shells, and missiles previously pledged under the Biden administration.
With President Trumpās āAmerica Firstā policy reshaping foreign aid strategy, the Pentagon appears to be pivoting away from prolonged foreign entanglements. Ukrainian officials have slammed the halt as betrayal, warning it weakens their resistance against Russiaās advances. Meanwhile, analysts say this could signal a major realignment in U.S. global commitments ā and a boost for Russian military strategy. Is Washington walking away from Kyiv?

A federal court has struck down Donald Trumpās attempt to prematurely end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for over 500,000 Haitian immigrants. The judge ruled the move unlawful, citing procedural violations and the devastating impact on lives built under TPS. The Biden administration had extended protections until 2026 due to Haitiās ongoing crisis, including gang violence and displacement. The ruling is a major setback for Trumpās deportation agenda and underscores judicial resistance to rolling back immigration relief programs.

In a bombshell announcement, US President Donald Trump has revealed plans to host a full-fledged UFC championship fight at the White House as part of the America250 celebrations. While some Americans are calling it a bold and patriotic move, critics have branded it bizarre, likening it to scenes from the film Idiocracy. The UFC match will be part of a wider series of festivities across the nation, including the āPatriot Gamesā and reenactments at historic sites. This unconventional announcement has further stirred the already polarizing public reaction to Trump's vision of America250.

Kyiv was left smoldering after an unprecedented overnight assault by Russian forces involving 11 missiles and a record 550 drones. Despite Ukraineās air defenses, 72 drones penetrated the city, causing widespread destruction, fires, and chaos. At least 23 people were injured and one woman killed near the border in a related attack. The relentless bombardment lasted over eight hours, shattering hopes for a ceasefire following a tense phone call between Presidents Putin and Trump. Ukrainian leaders condemn the strikes as some of the worst since the war began, while warning that halted U.S. weapon shipments could severely impact Ukraineās defense capabilities. Firefighters continue to battle massive blazes across the capital as the conflict escalates.
