A suicide bomber detonated an explosive device near the interior ministry building in the Turkish capital Ankara on Sunday.

A second assailant was “neutralised” following the bomb which wounded two police officers.

The two attackers arrived in a commercial vehicle and carried out the “terrorist attack”, interior minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

The explosion happened around 09:30 (06:30 GMT), hours before parliament was scheduled to reopen following a summer recess.
